What an Attorney Had to Say…

We have met with an attorney, who has successfully defended another individual, in another county, that had come under attack of similar animal control abuse. His first question, after we told him the estimated value of our equine, was, “This makes no sense. Why would you neglect valuable horses, yet feed and take care of your cows?” Our point exactly. We had 20 head of cows on the same property, the animal control people even commented on how good the cows looked. As I have said, my husband explained the reason the horses were not doing as well and what his feed program is and showed them the diagnostic reports that indicted something was amiss, though the lab could not pinpoint it without knowing what to look for. That has always been our problem. It didn’t matter to them. The animal control woman was hell-bent to take these horses.

The attorney believes he will be able to dismiss these outrageous and erroneous charges. One, because it makes no sense to a reasonable person, and two, the procedures, by law, were not followed, our rights were violated and due process was ignored. Even though the district attorney’s office took over 6 months to develop their case–that should tell you it’s not cut and dry, easy to prove–we do not have the luxury of that same timeline. Our arraignment is set for this Friday.  Any contribution is needed and will help. Thank you.
